XXIInd century EARTH – THE COMCON ERA
A self-proclaimed Utopia, led by the Communication Control Agency.
Human civilization has mastered intergalactic travel and has united under common leadership. ComCon fought and prevailed against imminent climate extinction through technology and ingenious BIOBLOCK therapies. ComCon-supported humans are now impervious to illness and injury and believe they have mastered their control on evolution.
ComCon humans explore the Cosmos using planets as recreational “escape” pads. Their Cosmos control missions have encountered benevolent alien civilizations like the Tagorans and the Leonidians but they have also surprisingly come into contact with outer planets populated by inferior humanoid civilizations. ComCon tightly controls protocols for these encounters, using a vetting process to decide how best to infiltrate and “PROGRESS” these challenged humans and how to best lead them towards a proper ComCon inspired, “evolution.”
In this penultimately safe, BIG BROTHER world, the existential threat to humans comes only from the terror of what is uncontrolled, what is “unknown.” All defense systems are geared to address an ever present but “invisible” alien civilization, aka THE WANDERERS. No one is fully aware of the Wanderers’ intentions, but this lack of concrete information has created a mega surveillance system aimed at intercepting all Wanderer behavior, including any possible Wanderer implants, foreign agents, or spies.
Ironically, the power of the ComCon era is also its weakness. This Big Brother high-tech civilization is constantly terrified of being outsmarted, and of being “watched”…
WHO ARE THE WANDERERS?
A XXIInd century archvillain or humanity’s
unexpected savior?
An alien supercivilization of presumably nefarious intentions, accused of experimenting with human evolution. As of yet unseen, they leave traces of their superior presence through the universe, artifacts and tracks that human explorers speculate about.
Their superb capacity allows them to control manipulation of space and time, able to “disappear” and “reappear” civilizations through time travel. Their invisible but deeply felt presence is a constant terror and threat for XXIInd century ComCon and their “unseen” presence is an on-going tension expressed in the widely prevalent Wanderer terror syndrome (aka the Sikorsky syndrome.)
PROGRESSORS
An elite unit of ComCon knight-like scientists, sent under highly controlled protocols to infiltrate, observe and ultimately “progress” unenlightened human civilizations found on outer planets.
METAHUMANS
The possibility of Wanderer-evolved humans who exceed the capacity of regular human evolution to travel not only through space but through time. Possibly a nefarious creation of the Wanderers in their attempt to control, or influence, humanity.
THE EMBRYOS
A sarcophagus containing 13 mysterious human embryos was discovered on a far-away planet and brought to the attention of ComCon leadership. The decision was made not to destroy the embryos but to bring them to life and control their evolution by separating them and giving them occupations away from Earth while closely monitoring their possible reasons for existence.
However, this (highly debated) decision has created a time-bomb of anxiety. The alien planet of Tagora who found their own sarcophagus of embryos and destroyed them – has since cut off communications with ComCon, accusing them of “playing God” with their embryos, trying to control what is mysterious and unknown. It is important to note that the only (now adult) embryo whose identity was revealed to them by ComCon, has since killed himself; terrified of being the carrier of seeds of cosmic evil.
There is a wide-spread theory that these now adult human embryos are harmless and simply a psychological test engineered by the Wanderers to check humanity’s reaction.
